Privacy policy
Last updated 25 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information H & R Home Improvements ("we", "us") collects when you use this website or get in touch, what we do with it, and your rights. We keep it short because we don't collect much.
Who we are
H & R Home Improvements is run by Jordan Young. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "controller" of your personal information. To contact us about anything in this policy, call 07824 396383 or email homehrimprovements@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Quote requests: your name, phone number, postcode, the service you're interested in, anything you write in the message box, and which page of the website you sent the form from.
- Calls, texts, WhatsApp and email: your phone number or email address and whatever you send us, including photos of your fence or garden.
- When we quote for or carry out work: your address, details of the property and the job, photos we take of the work, and payment records.
We don't collect any information about you just for visiting the website. There are no analytics, tracking or advertising tools on it (see our cookie policy).
How we use it, and why we're allowed to
- To reply to you, visit, and give you a quote. This is a step you've asked us to take before entering into a contract.
- To carry out the work, invoice you and put right anything that needs it. This is needed to perform our contract with you.
- To keep accounts and tax records. We're legally required to.
- To keep a record of past jobs and deal with any complaint or dispute. This is in our legitimate interests as a business.
- To show photos of finished work on our website or social media. We only use photos that don't identify you or your address. If you'd rather we didn't use photos of your garden at all, just tell us.
We don't sell your details, share them for anyone else's marketing, or send you marketing messages.
Who we share it with
Only the people and services we need to run the business:
- Netlify, which hosts this website and processes quote form submissions.
- Microsoft (Outlook), which provides our email.
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
- Our accountant, and HMRC where the law requires.
- Suppliers and subcontractors (for example a scaffolding firm) where they need your address to do their part of the job.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our legal rights.
Information stored outside the UK
Netlify, Microsoft and Meta may store or process information in the United States and other countries. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK-US data bridge or standard contractual clauses, to protect it.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: deleted within 12 months.
- Customer and job records: kept for at least 6 years after the job for our accounts and in case of any claim.
Keeping it safe
We keep your information on password-protected devices and accounts, and only the people who need it to do the job can see it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct anything that's wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information, where we don't need to keep it for a legal reason;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to us using it for our legitimate interests;
- pass your information to you or someone else in a common format.
To do any of these, call 07824 396383 or email homehrimprovements@gmail.com. It's free, and we'll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
